We’re getting together on Saturday 24, 12pm-2pm, at St Andrew’s Church in Penrith to say NO to the Government’s scheme to banish refugees to Rwanda. This is a real threat to many people – we are aware of 30 Cumbrian residents who have recently received ‘letters of intent’ placing them under consideration for deportation to Rwanda.
We’ll be joining groups across the country to Fill the Skies with Hope, making and sending orange paper planes with messages against the Rwanda scheme to the new PM.
Come along to St Andrew’s to make your plane from noon onwards (we’ll provide paper and pens), with a photo op at 1pm. We’ll then have a picnic, so bring and share food. We’ll have children’s games for all ages.
If you can’t be there, do join the protest from home – there are lots of ideas on this action sheet. You could post planes and messages in your window and use the attached flyers to spread the word on social media.
We’d also like as many people as possible to write to Dr Neil Hudson MP at firstname.lastname@example.org saying why you oppose the scheme. You can use the template letter at https://care4calais.org/stop-rwanda/
