Volunteer with PERN

Volunteers are an essential and valued part of PERN. Our team of committed volunteers take on a wide variety of essential roles including:
 
  • Teaching (or being a teaching assistant) at PERN English
  • Guiding new refugees at PERN New Refugee Support
  • Supporting the PERN Legal & Info service drop ins
  • Running the ‘Front of House’ at PERN English
  • Providing careers, CV and job search support
  • Befriending
  • Technical support
  • Helping to run English Club in Penrith
  • Stewarding at events such as Escape to Safety
  • Representing PERN at local events
  • Being a trustee or advising the board
 
Our volunteers are a mixture of people including those who have lived experience of being a refugee and those who have lived in the UK for longer.
