“Hello, my name is Roula and I am from Aleppo, Syria.
I studied Business and Finance in Aleppo and worked in an International Telecommunications Company, and I worked in a bank.
After a long journey and a long wait of over two years, I was finally able to join my husband in the UK in 2017.
Since arriving here I have been constantly trying to improve my language, improve myself and be open to all possibilities of self-development. I do a lot of voluntary work, but I am always trying to find something to do which reflects me and interests. I feel this will help me to overcome my sadness at being far from my family in Syria .
After much exploration I have recently found new aspect of my personality: it is an aspect far from my previous association with numbers, spreadsheets, and computers. This new interest is Art Resin, I use two liquid substances (resin and hardener) which together produce something quite beautiful. I have become very interested in colour, flowers ,texture and creative self-realisation.
At first, I made bookmarks then I moved on to pendants and then tableware such as coasters and trays for cake . I have also made some customized gifts. With encouragement from my husband, my family and my friends, I started my small business which is becoming more and more successful.
Some of my work is available to view at some shops in Barrow in Furness and of course you can view the work on my Instagram and Facebook.”
