Admin and Advice Worker
PERN Legal & Info is a frontline service for asylum seekers and new refugees across Cumbria (UK), including branches in both Carlisle and Barrow. The service provides casework, advice, and self-help support on asylum and protection, both in the form of legal advice on asylum claims and in helping asylum seekers to access their rights. The service is currently registered to Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) Level 2 in Asylum and Protection and we are working towards Level 3.
We are recruiting for an Admin and Advice Worker (part time – 2 days a week) to support the Barrow branch of our service.
At PERN we centre lived experience in all that we do. Our ambition is for PERN to be a true alliance between individuals of all immigration backgrounds. Solidarity is at the heart of how we think and act.
Our Admin and Advice Worker will provide:
- Reception services, including triaging.
- Administration work to support the service.
- Frontline advice work on a range of asylum matters.
- Interpreting (where the position holder speaks a second language), within their own language(s) as well as coordination of volunteer community interpreters.
We will support the Admin and Advice Worker to work towards IAA Level 2 in Asylum and Protection.
The Admin and Advice Worker will be accountable to the PERN Legal and Info Barrow Branch Manager. We expect all members of staff and volunteers to work at all times to promote PERN’s values and operate within PERN policy and procedures.
To apply for this role, please send a CV and covering letter outlining your suitability for the job to hello@pern.org.uk by 23:59 on Sunday 22nd June.
