Nationality and Borders Bill to move to House of Lords

This is a crucial piece of legislation and, from the very outset, hundreds of organisations, including PERN, have opposed its cruel approach to the asylum system. It would see refugees treated differently depending on how they arrive in the UK, be criminalised for entering irregularly, and potentially be flown overseas to have their asylum application processed in another country.

The ‘anti-refugee bill’ is nearing the end of its stages in the House of Commons, and will move to the House of Lords by the end of the year.

There are many sources for the facts about the bill. There is a useful summary below, and you can also follow Refugee Action or the Refugee Council to keep up-to-date with its progress.
