Dear Friends of Refugees

National Refugee Week is the 14th to 20th of June and it’s a critical opportunity to demonstrate that refugees are welcome in the UK.  We’re using this focus to launch our local Together with Refugees campaign to oppose the Government’s proposed Borders Bill.  If passed, this new law will prevent refugees being able to find safety and make new lives in the UK.

We need you to join us please on Saturday 19th June in Penrith where we will be holding:

  • a campaign stall outside the Nat West Bank from 10.30am to 3.30pm
  • banner and badge-making
  • a photo call and with banners at 12 noon - please make this a priority.

Open Letter to Dr Neil Hudson MP

The Together with Refugees page of this web site has our Open Letter to Neil Hudson, asking for his support.  We need you to collect as many signatures as possible from individuals and also organisations or workplaces you belong to.  Please print off as many sheets as you need, collect the signatures and return them to  You can take a photograph of your signature sheet and email it or drop a hard copy through Sarah’s letter box. 20 Stricklandgate, Penrith, CA11 7QA.)   If you can, please take a photo of your group holding a banner or logo along with the signature sheet and email that to us as well.    We will send the letter to Neil Hudson on Monday 26th July so we have a just a month to collect signatures.

The Campaign Logo

We want to cover Penrith with this logo.  You can print off your own posters from or collect A5 versions from the campaign stall on Saturday 19th, or in advance from the Restore Charity Shop (previously the Ops Shop), in Angel Lane, Penrith, anytime from Monday 14th June.

Let’s put posters up everywhere - in your windows at home, cafes, shops and work places.

The more support we have for these actions, the more we can raise awareness of the Borders Bill and show that refugees are welcome here.

We really hope you can join us.
