Penrith And Eden Refugee Network

Celebratory Book Launch

When refugees fled Bosnia in the early 1990s, some of them escaped on a bus, organised by a group of Cumbrians. The Penrith Quaker Meeting House became a central hub for refugees, where schools, homes, and English lessons were organised. One of the refugees, Edita Mujkic, is now returning to the Meeting House to launch the book she wrote about her experiences.

Please join us there on Saturday 10 September from 5 – 7pm for a celebratory evening to hear Edita read from her book, ‘Between Before And After’. It’s a moving and compelling true story and an insight into the experiences of those fleeing conflict. It’s also a celebration of human connection and the importance and impact of the simplest acts of kindness.

Join us to hear more about her experience of being a refugee in Penrith in the 1990s. There will be a chance for questions, and conversation, plus snacks to enjoy.

Please email edita.mujkic.books@gmail.com to let us know you’ll be there.
